The Church of the Evangelical Reformation, like the Eastern Christian Churches, understands that confirmation is actually part of Holy Baptism.
In the centuries following the Reformation, confirmation as a period of instruction and commitment was separated from Holy Baptism and was understood as a a period of instruction in the faith as well as a ceremony of "coming of age."
At Hilltop Lutheran church of the Ascension, young people who have been received into membership in the Body of Christ through Holy Baptism as children, are instructed in the fundamentals of the Christian faith as explained in Luther's Small Catechism.
